Thanks for the education! They certainly have never taught ANY of this in American History classes in this country!

Thank you for great information, documentation and perspective. I didn't know this history of Texas and Mexico and I doubt many Americans know it. It certainly isn't taught in American Schools.

What a great history lesson, Alisa! I actually did not know about Vicente Guerrero or the the complete story of slavery in Texas. I remember some details about Spanish America from college history classes, but you’re right—they did not teach complete and accurate historical details to white lookin’ kids in the 1970’s at parochial schools. Hell, Christopher Columbus is probably still deified! Anyway, thanks for the facts, and I’m glad you said something. ☮️☮️

Thanks for the “history lesson they don’t teach in school”. This is why we’re where we’re at today. They mostly teach white history and it really pisses me off! I was an adult before I learned that my people (Puerto Ricans) were fighting for America before it was a country!

You already know that I love everything you write. You should do 5 de mayo, which has nothing to do with drinking but has to do with a Roman Catholic priest and the liberation of slaves. And he was also murdered by the Roman Apostolic Catholic Church, burned, by the way, cuz they were making too much money from slavery…

Too good not to share. I had heard of an Afro-Latino part of Texas History…. I had heard about the slavery that a Mexican Government didn’t want Texas to have. But those that fought for Texas Independence had slaves that fought along side of the slave owners. But I had never heard his name. Thank you for giving this HERO a name. Thank you! 🙏🏼
